Third Day

I cannot believe it’s New Year’s Eve. This does not feel like any other NYE. I am home alone and ready to go out to the local gym to keep myself in shape. Truth be told, to try and get myself in shape. It’s been a little over two years since I went to Bellingham to take a certification class for a few days. I slept on a catamaran, worked as part of a four-man crew and took tests to prove my brain and body knew how and could physically handle the chores of sailing. The weather was for the most part magnificent, a little chilly and a little wet. But who can complain when you have the sky, the winds and the water all to yourself. I flew coast to coast that year while COVID was in its’ heigh day. Today I can say I barely moved away from our section of Florida for very long this past year. I guess a long weekend to see family and visit Washington and Annapolis might count if it wasn’t for such a short time. And at the airport, Reagan, they ran out of cars, and I had to take the subway and book a car elsewhere for the next day. It was worth the trip to see who and what I saw but hardly broke a sweat. This year needs to be different. Not only am I teaching and have my hands full, but I am going to save and research and plan to make my way to the waters and sail over them once again. 2023! Here I come!
